Karissa
Karissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Colorado, Denver. For the past three years, she has been a high-dosage reading tutor for K-5 students in Jeffco Public Schools. She is certified and trained in both the Orton-Gillingham and SIPPS programs—evidence-based curricula aligned with the Structured Literacy principles recommended by the International Dyslexia Association. Karissa specializes in delivering explicit, systematic instruction in reading, spelling, and writing, helping students build strong foundational literacy skills and grow into confident readers. Her tailored, engaging lessons make learning both effective and fun!
Outside the classroom, Karissa loves spending time outdoors in beautiful Colorado or catching a comedy show. She also enjoys traveling (especially to beach destinations), baking, and sharing quality time with friends and family.
