Jennifer W
Jennifer holds a Master of Arts in education and a Bachelor of Arts in English. She is licensed in secondary english language arts, social studies, educational counseling, and as a gifted and talented specialist. She has over 30 years of experience in secondary and adult education at Jeffco Public Schools, including 3 years at Arvada West High School and 24 years at Lakewood High School.
Jennifer has taught English language arts to students of all grade levels and abilities, including general education coursework, AP and IB classes, computer-based credit recovery courses, and English language learners at an online Chinese school. She has also advised IB Extended Essay students on research and writing. Currently working in Jeffco Schools’ gifted and talented department, Jennifer focuses on identifying and supporting underachieving gifted students. Her extensive experience with gifted students and twice-exceptionality makes her well-prepared to tutor 2e students.
In addition to teaching and tutoring, Jennifer actively consults with organizations like the College Board and the International Baccalaureate, contributing to test development, examiner training, and professional development workshops on best practices in writing instruction.
Jennifer believes in student-centered learning and employs an individualized approach to tutoring, recognizing that each student has unique strengths and needs. Her methods incorporate differentiated instruction and a variety of strategies to engage students and enhance writing development. She is excited to help students improve their writing skills and is committed to guiding and supporting students on their writing journey, whether they are developing basic writing skills, preparing for AP exams, or refining academic or personal writing projects.
